The Suzhou Intermediate People’s Court today sentenced Ren Hua, former vice chairman of the People’s government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, to 14 years in prison and fined him 4 million yuan.The property and fruits obtained from bribery shall be recovered and turned over to the State Treasury.Ren said in court that he would not appeal the verdict.After the trial, it was found that:From 2007 to 2020, the defendant Ren Hua took advantage of his positions as a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Urumqi Municipal Committee and head of the Publicity Department, secretary of the Party Group and deputy director of the Culture Department of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Secretary of the Party Group of the Education Department of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and vice Chairman of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region People’s Government.To provide help for relevant units and individuals in project contracting, company operation, bank loans, job transfer and other aspects, and accept property from others, totaling more than 47.15 million yuan.The Suzhou Intermediate People’s Court said the defendant, Ren Hua as a state worker, took advantage of his position to seek benefits for others, illegally accepted other people’s property, its behavior constitutes the crime of taking bribes.The amount of bribes ren Hua took was particularly huge. Considering that he could truthfully confess his crimes and voluntarily confessed part of the bribery facts that the handling organs had not yet mastered, he confessed and repented, and actively returned the stolen money and goods involved in the bribery had been recovered to the case.
